The overlay feature will help you display cropping guides for all of these aspect ratios, so you can avoid the guesswork and prepare for the inevitable "How does this work on 9:16?" right before delivery.
On top of that, Overlay allows you to embed some crucial information (frame number, filename, and custom text entries) into your files. No more filename guessing in Figma! Use the "Border Strip" to create extra margins on your video, so that the information doesn't overlap the video.

Is it free? Is there a subscription?
Yes, and No. Offspring is a free tool based on freely contributed tools and resources from other people on the internet. It's a lightweight pet project and it will not have ads or a subscription.
What OS does Offspring support?
Offspring is currently only available for Windows.
Why does Offspring require admin privileges?
The whole principle behind Offspring was to make these commands as easily accessible as possible. The only way to append these commands to the right-click context menu is through Admin Privileges.
Do I need to download and manually install ffmpeg?
No. Offspring offers a path entry if you want to point it to your ffmpeg install. Otherwise, A button will be available to quickly download all the essential tools needed for it to work (Recommended).
Windows is warning me about running the install?
Because this is a 'homemade' app, it doesn't have the paid certificates needed to let windows know it is a 'safe' app. You can click on "More Info" to reveal the "Run" button to continue the install.
Can I request a feature?
This tool started primarily as a way for me to relegate simpler scripts to an easily-accessible menu. I'm constantly on the look for potential new features, so please feel free to reach out if you have any ideas you'd like to see implemented!
Is AI involved in the Offspring code?
Yes. While the underlying ffmpeg scripts were written before AI was a thing, I have used both AI and non-AI tools heavily to create, tweak and perfect the UI and services like the update mechanism, some newer tools and bug fixing.
