Reflecting on AI
What building small hardware taught me about working with very large models.

I build small, deliberate objects, and I increasingly do it with the help of enormous statistical ones. That contrast has been on my mind all year — this is an attempt to write it down.

Tools that push back
Good tools have opinions. The interesting question is not whether AI writes code or copy, but what kind of taste survives the collaboration. Some provisional answers, subject to revision.
