Picking aluminum colors

Field notes on anodization, and why choosing six colors took three months.

Picking aluminum colors

Anodized aluminum does not behave like a Pantone book. The same dye reads differently across alloys, finishes and even batches, so picking a color palette for a keyboard run is less like design and more like negotiation.
